Where the rubber hits the road

Finally putting to action my desire to do the Polar Bear Plunge!

Every day we’re faced with choices. Difficult ones like, should I move to Tallahassee? I mean no disrespect if you live in Tallahassee, it’s just that I’ve never actually been there. So deciding to move there would be one of the more difficult choices I would face in a day. Now, choosing whether or not I should take a nap, that would be a no brainer. Of course I should take a nap. Napping is wonderful.

My point is, we are now and forever will be faced with making decisions. I am a HUGE advocate of spending time in contemplation. I spend a great deal of time in introspection, trying to understand myself and others. I think it’s imperative in becoming a better, kinder, more balanced person. The problem is, all the self-awareness in the world doesn’t necessarily mean we’re  acting on all our new found discoveries. We’ve all been guilty at one time or another of setting some majestic goal or having some really lovely intention but never actually following through on it.

This blog is birthed out of my desire for my discoveries to lead to more action. A desire to have more than great ideas for my life, but to actively participate in my life. My hope for this blog is that it will be a place where discovery meets action. A place where all the things I’m learning about myself and the world around me will lead to shifts in the choices I make and the way I live my life. If you’ve chosen to come along for the ride I hope you’ll also be encouraged to move from ideas into action. After all, the real action happens when the rubber hits the road.
